Alagappa Government Polytechnic College was started in 1955 at Karaikudi by a renowned industrialist and philanthropist, Dr. RM. AlagappaChettiar, to offer quality education to the student community. Subsequently, Government of Tamilnadu undertook this college in 1966. This sprawling campus has accommodated various departments and several laboratories. These laboratories are fully equipped with modern instruments and machineries to provide hands-on experience to the students. Well qualified teachers help the students enrich their knowledge. Many of the alumni are placed in reputed Indian and Multinational companies. This institution celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in 2015.
