The school was started in the year 1986, inspired by the wisdom of Srimathi Velammal and pursued with passion by Shri. M.V. Muthuramalingam, her illustrious son, and Founder Chairman. The Velammal Main Campus at Mogappair which started with 183 students and 13 teachers, now has spread its roots all over the state and governs institutions as follows.
